  • Lake front home: This lakefront home is located in Angola, Indiana, which is in the northeastern part of Indiana.  Construction began on this 3000 plus square foot home in May of 2005 and is scheduled for completion by late fall.  The home owner was seeking a residence that was energy efficient as well as low maintenance.

  • Building assembly :  The exterior walls of the home are constructed of 8 inch AAC block.  Since the walls are load bearing, the walls are reinforced every 4 feet on center thus using single cored AAC blocks in conjunction with the AAC solid block.  AAC u-block was used for the ring beam that was required at the second floot of the home.  8 inch AAC floor panels were used for the 1100 square foot deck which is covered with a slate surface.
  • Exterior finish:  Elite Cement Products' Litewall basecoat and Acrytex fine sand finish were used for the exterior finish.  The custom colored Acrytex finish ties in with the homeowner's stone veneers that are also used as part of the exterior.  Stone accents were selected to highlight the home.
  • Interior finish:  The homeowner choose a mix of interior finishes.  In the lower level Gypspray, a veneer plaster , was used on the exterior walls.  On the second level, accent walls utilizing the Acrytex  finish was used.  The remainder of the AAC walls were finished with drywall which had first been fur stripped to allow for electrical service as well as provide an air gap between the AAC exterior wall and the interior of the home.
